In a revealing interview, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the former lead quest designer of The Witcher 3, shared insights into the challenges faced by CD Projekt Red in melding a grand narrative with an open-world setting. The team at CDPR initially harbored doubts about whether such an expansive story could thrive within the freedom of an open-world game.

"Few games have dared to attempt what we did: blending expansive storytelling techniques, usually reserved for linear RPGs with corridor-like structures, such as The Witcher 2, and adapting them to fit an open-world experience," Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz.
Despite these initial reservations, CDPR boldly embraced the challenge, resulting in the creation of The Witcher 3, widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed RPGs in gaming history. Today, Tomaszkiewicz has taken the helm at Rebel Wolves, where he is spearheading the development of The Blood of Dawnwalker. This new title is set in an alternate medieval Eastern Europe, enriched with dark fantasy themes and centered around vampires.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series platforms. While an official release date remains undisclosed, eager fans can look forward to a gameplay reveal this summer.
