No need to halt the presses — the new The Office spinoff, The Paper, is taking TV by storm. The series has already been renewed for Season 2.
The renewal came just one day before the show’s premiere on Peacock on September 4. This decision follows strong early buzz for the series, which clearly influenced Peacock and NBCUniversal to greenlight a second season before official viewership numbers were released.
Domhnall Gleeson, who stars as the pseudo-Michael Scott, and Sabrina Impacciatore, another key cast member now widely recognized for her role in Season 2 of The White Lotus, announced the renewal during an appearance on the Today show to promote the premiere.
The renewal couldn’t be more timely for co-creator Greg Daniels, who has already been developing Season 2 behind the scenes. He’s currently working on the next batch of episodes alongside co-executive producer and showrunner Michael Koman, with plans to release the second season around the same time in 2026.
“We definitely have ideas,” Daniels recently told Variety. “We’ve been brainstorming storylines for a possible Season 2, and it’ll be fascinating to see how the audience responds. We’ve received excellent feedback from within the company, journalists, and friends — but you never know how the wider Office fanbase will react.”
Peacock will release all 10 episodes of Season 1 on September 4. The series connects to the original The Office by following the same documentary crew that once filmed at Dunder Mifflin Scranton, now tracking Gleeson’s team of journalists and others.
