Eastside Games has built a reputation for delivering quirky and unconventional mobile gaming experiences. From their adaptations of Cheech & Chong and Trailer Park Boys to the RuPaul’s games and other licensed titles like Doctor Who: Lost in Time, The Office: Somehow We Manage, and The Goldbergs: Back to the 80s, the studio continues to innovate. Their latest addition to this eclectic portfolio is Squishmallows Match.
Eastside is partnering with Jazwares and Zaibatsu Interactive to launch the first-ever mobile game based on the immensely popular plush toy line. Originally introduced in 2017 by Kelly Toys and Jazwares, Squishmallows are known for their soft, round shapes and come in a wide variety of colors, sizes, and playful designs—ranging from cute animals to food-inspired characters.
Now, the upcoming game—set for a global release on September 2, 2025—is a match-3 puzzle experience where players can collect a host of adorable characters and assemble unique squads using rare and limited-edition Squishmallows. You’ll also be able to personalize your player feed to showcase your collections and custom creations.
Customization is a major focus in the game. Players can choose from Squishmallows-themed backgrounds, stickers, and the characters themselves. There’s even a claw machine minigame where you can test your luck to win rare plush characters.
As you progress through the Squishmallows Reward Road, you can earn points and unlock special Keys. You can also use power-ups like Magnets to boost your chances of obtaining exclusive Squishmallows.
Squishmallows Match will deliver regular seasonal content via season passes, introducing time-limited characters for a limited time. Additional features include wishlist tracking, community competitions, daily rewards, and boosters. Take a closer look in the video below.
By pre-registering now, players gain access to exclusive in-game rewards. Plus, you’ll have a chance to obtain a never-before-released Squishmallows character—both as a digital collectible and a physical plush—before anyone else in the world.
When it comes to contemporary plush toy lines, I'm personally a big fan of Squishmallows. I find them more charming than other trending dolls, like the monster-inspired Labubu. If you’re on #TeamSquishmallows too, be sure to check out the game on the Google Play Store.
