REPO Devs Announce Major Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling Adjustments

REPO's developer is revamping difficulty progression by introducing new mechanics at every 10-level interval. Discover the upcoming changes to the Overcharge system and insights from the game's open beta phase.

Overcharge System Redesign

Following player feedback from REPO's open beta, developer Semiwork is refining the controversial Overcharge mechanic that lets players counter enemies through a risky throw maneuver.

The Overcharge ability enables players to grab and hurl enemies against surfaces or away from allies. However, reckless usage fills an Overcharge meter - reaching maximum capacity triggers a catastrophic explosion.

REPO's Tiered Difficulty System Reveal

Originally available from level 1, Overcharge will now unlock at level 10. This change launches a tiered difficulty system where new gameplay mechanics unlock at levels 20, 30, and beyond - integrating with both gameplay balance and narrative elements.

"This system connects directly with our lore," a Semiwork representative explained. "We're building meaningful context beyond just mechanical complexity, with more details coming soon."

Devs Playtest in Disguise

REPO Developers Secretly Join Community Matches

During the beta, Semiwork's developers anonymously participated in public matchmaking to gather firsthand player insights. Design director Pontus Sundström described these undercover sessions as invaluable for understanding player enjoyment.

"I've played numerous matches incognito through random matchmaking," Sundström revealed. "These stealth playtests allowed me to directly ask players about their favorite elements and pain points."

Semiwork plans to implement numerous community-suggested improvements from beta feedback. Players can expect more developer updates soon - stay tuned for the latest REPO news by following our coverage below.
