The developers of REPO have revealed their upcoming plans for the game, including the introduction of a clever new item known as the "duck bucket"—designed specifically to keep the infamous duck from attacking players. Keep reading to discover more about the planned updates and what the creator of Lethal Company has to say about this rising horror title.
In REPO, an online co-op horror experience supporting up to six players, your team must carefully extract and retrieve items while navigating a terrifying world. One of the most unique—and deadly—features is The Apex Predator: a seemingly innocent yellow duck that transforms into a monstrous threat when damaged or picked up, launching a 10-second attack before reverting to its harmless form.
To help players manage this quirky yet dangerous creature, Semiwork Studios announced during a March 15 YouTube update video that they are introducing the "duck bucket." This clever tool will allow players to trap the duck, preventing it from following them and reducing the risk of accidental activation of its monster state. Additionally, the update will include new facial expressions and various quality-of-life enhancements to improve gameplay.
Semiwork Studios also shared details about a new map titled “The Museum,” which will challenge players with parkour-style movement mechanics. Extraction zones in this level will feature clearly marked boundaries, ensuring players know exactly where to place loot for successful extraction.
Additionally, the studio confirmed they are working on implementing public lobbies based on community feedback. While matchmaking options—allowing players to choose between public and private lobbies—are under development, the addition of a kick button poses some technical challenges due to server-side coding requirements. Although this feature may arrive later than expected, the team remains committed to transparency and improvement.
Since its February release, REPO has drawn comparisons to Lethal Company, another popular co-op horror title. On March 15, Zeekerss, the creator of Lethal Company, shared constructive criticism on X (formerly Twitter), offering insight into how REPO can evolve through future updates.
He wrote:
"REPO is fun. At first I thought I didn't like it since I felt so slow (and voice chat range is too small!) But everyone in the group working together to move a grand piano through a cramped old mansion without scraping it—that is like the most funny objective for a horror game."
In follow-up comments, he highlighted two key areas for improvement:
Zeekerss also responded to a fan’s concern about enemies sneaking up silently, suggesting the need for clearer in-game cues to understand enemy behavior.
R.E.P.O. continues to gain traction as one of the most talked-about horror games on PC. As of writing, it ranks as the second best-selling game on Steam, trailing only Counter-Strike 2. According to SteamDB, it has already achieved over 230,645 concurrent players—getting dangerously close to Lethal Company's all-time peak of 240,817.
