With Monster Hunter Wilds just weeks away from release, Capcom has launched a PC benchmark on Steam to help players gauge their system's readiness. In a surprising move, the company has also revised the game's PC system requirements downwards, potentially broadening its accessibility.
As highlighted during the recent Capcom Spotlight, the PC benchmark is now available on Steam. Once launched, it requires shader compilation, but is otherwise user-friendly and provides valuable insights into your system's performance. This is particularly pertinent given the updated system requirements.
Previously, to achieve 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled, you needed a graphics card like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, or AMD Radeon RX 6700XT; a CPU such as the Intel Core i5-11600K, Intel Core i5-12400, AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, or AMD Ryzen 5 5500; and 16 GB of RAM.
Capcom has now updated these requirements. For the Recommended settings to achieve 1080p (FHD) with 60 frames per second and Frame Generation enabled, the new specifications are as follows:
These adjustments should ensure that Monster Hunter Wilds runs smoothly at 1080p and 60 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled, as per Capcom's specifications. The lowered requirements mark a slight but significant shift, making the game more accessible to a wider range of PC setups.

Early feedback from users indicates improved performance in the benchmark compared to the beta test, although these results are with Frame Generation enabled. Unfortunately, the Steam Deck may not meet these requirements effectively, as my own testing on the device yielded less than satisfactory results.
An interesting change is the reduction in storage requirements. Previously, the game demanded 140 GB of SSD space, but this has now been cut to 75 GB. This reduction is notable, especially given the general trend of increasing game file sizes each year.
