These movies failed to capture the essence and appeal of their source material, leaving fans and critics alike bewildered. However, there's a glimmer of hope as recent adaptations such as the *Sonic the Hedgehog* series and *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* have shown that Hollywood can indeed get it right. Yet, not all recent attempts have been successful, with *Borderlands* serving as a reminder that challenges remain.
