Battlefield 6 publisher EA is implementing adjustments to the Rush game mode to create a more balanced experience between attackers and defenders.
These updates coincide with the launch of Battlefield 6's second Open Beta Weekend, which began on August 15 and runs through Sunday, August 17. The All-Out Warfare playlist features Breakthrough, Conquest, and Rush, with the latter mode currently facing some player criticism.
For newcomers, Rush challenges players to destroy military communication stations, known as MCOMs. This can be achieved through heavy explosives or by planting a bomb. However, the bomb-planting mechanic has been problematic: the lengthy 45-second timer between placement and detonation was giving one side an unfair advantage.
Developer DICE has already taken action. In a social media post, the team confirmed, "We've just adjusted Rush: the MCOM timer has been reduced from 45 to 30 seconds to improve balance between attacking and defending teams."
The developers stated they will "continue monitoring and are prepared to make further balance tweaks." This is timely, as the timer isn't the only concern. Players have also criticized the distance between MCOM objectives and spawn points, leading to frustrating spawn traps on maps like Iberian, Empire, and Siege of Cairo.
"Rush should be temporarily disabled in Battlefield 6 until it's properly polished," suggested one dissatisfied player. "Every map has severe balance issues, with no spacing between sectors or MCOM locations. Even 12v12 matches feel chaotic. It's disappointing, as Rush was once a fantastic mode." This post has garnered over 3,000 likes at the time of writing.
Earlier this week, EA acknowledged the cheating issues in Battlefield 6 and outlined its ongoing efforts to address them, alongside its requirement for players to enable Secure Boot in their BIOS. The publisher reported its existing anti-cheat technology has already blocked 330,000 cheating attempts. Players reported 44,000 cheating instances on the first day and an additional 60,000 since. EA commits to continuously improving its anti-cheat measures and encourages the community to report any issues.
