Fans of the *Monster Hunter* series have often expressed mixed feelings about the weapon designs in *Monster Hunter: World*, leading to speculation about what *Monster Hunter Wilds* might bring to the table. Although we've caught glimpses of some weapons in *Wilds*, it hasn't been enough to fully grasp the overall design philosophy—until now. Yuya Tokuda, the director of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, has shed light on this topic.

In a recent discussion about the Hope series armor and weapons, Tokuda explained, “Incidentally, weapon designs in *Monster Hunter: World* generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in *Wilds*, each weapon has its own unique design.” This statement clearly delineates a significant shift in approach from *World* to *Wilds*.

This direct comparison to *Monster Hunter: World* clarifies that fans won't have to worry about weapons looking too similar in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. In *World*, even though some weapons eventually evolved into unique designs, many retained similarities. For instance, the final aqua line Sword and Shield closely resembles the final Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the final bone line Long Sword is very similar to the final Jyuratodus Long Sword, as seen in the image below. These were the most upgraded versions available at the launch of *Monster Hunter: World*.

Contrast this with the distinct designs showcased in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, as highlighted in the slideshow below. Each weapon in *Wilds* boasts a unique appearance, setting a new standard for variety and creativity.
