Remedy has issued a transparent statement acknowledging shortcomings in the launch of its multiplayer Control spinoff FBC: Firebreak, outlining plans to enhance the game in upcoming updates.

Despite launching on June 17, FBC: Firebreak currently holds a "mixed" Steam user rating. Describing the release as both "exciting and nerve-wracking," Remedy acknowledged player feedback while admitting "certain features clearly need improvement."

"We're implementing immediate fixes while planning longer-term solutions," the studio stated. "Some adjustments can roll out quickly, while others require more thoughtful development. We'll maintain transparent communication throughout this process."

The developers then addressed specific gameplay concerns: "We recognize players want concrete improvements, not vague promises, so let's detail our action plan."

First-Hour Experience Overhaul

Remedy identified key issues plaguing new players' initial experiences:

  • Confusing onboarding systems
  • Poorly explained game mechanics
  • Unclear objective guidance in Jobs
  • Underwhelming early-game weapon progression
  • Excessive grinding requirements

The studio outlined immediate quality-of-life changes:

  • Streamlined Job accessibility (removing initial Clearance Level requirements)
  • New players receive full three-zone Hot Fix Job runs
  • Accelerated progression and equipment unlocks

Future Development Roadmap

These initial fixes represent just the beginning, according to Remedy, with broader improvements currently under evaluation based on community input.

FBC: Firebreak - Gameplay Screenshots

In our FBC: Firebreak review-in-progress, we noted: "Despite narrative gaps, battling bizarre entities within Remedy's surreal bureaucratic world delivers unique entertainment. Further testing will determine the longevity of this chaotic cooperative experience."

Post-Launch Commitment

Remedy confirmed ongoing support including:

  • Two free Job additions planned for 2025
  • Additional updates scheduled for 2026
  • Optional cosmetic purchases (no gameplay advantages)
  • No limited-time content or daily login requirements

The studio remains busy managing multiple projects concurrently with FBC: Firebreak, including Control 2 and the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake collection.
