The Suikoden I & II HD Remaster’s five-year development journey underscores the developers’ unwavering commitment to creating a truly faithful remaster. In a March 4, 2025 interview with Dengeki Online, the development team detailed their meticulous approach.
Initially slated for a 2023 release following its 2022 announcement, the game’s launch was pushed back. Game Director Takahiro Sakiyama explained that late-stage debugging revealed areas requiring further refinement, necessitating the delay.
Director Tatsuya Ogushi elaborated, stating that instead of rushing, the team prioritized a thorough assessment. Following discussions with Sakiyama, they identified significant areas needing attention, demanding a firm commitment to quality.
Reviving a Legacy
This remaster isn't just a standalone project; it marks the first step in Konami's ambitious plan to revitalize the Suikoden franchise.
