Hello fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting reveals, including several surprise game releases. This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's excellent news for us! We've got news, a look at today's eShop additions, and the usual sales updates. Let's dive in!
A Partner/Indie World Showcase Packed with Announcements
Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases was a smart move, resulting in a flurry of announcements. Highlights include surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video; it's worth your time!
A fantastic surprise release! This third Castlevania collection features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, along with an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. This collection offers exceptional emulation and a wealth of features, making it an incredible value.
This Wario Land-inspired platformer is a whirlwind of frantic action. Players must navigate five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will love this, but even those without a strong Wario connection should give it a try if they enjoy challenging platformers. A review is planned.
Another surprise release! It's Goat Simulator 3. If you're familiar with the series, you know what to expect. Performance on the Switch is uncertain, as even more powerful systems have experienced some struggles. Proceed with caution, but remember, even poor performance might add to the game's chaotic charm. Silly goats, silly antics – it's up to you to decide if this is worth the risk!
EA's decision to not bring PopCap games to Switch seems like a missed opportunity. For Peggle fans, Peglin is a fantastic alternative. Previously available on mobile, this title blends Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is coming soon.
Kairosoft adds a popular license to their shop simulation formula. Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story features characters from the beloved Doraemon manga and anime. The license is well-integrated, and you might even spot cameos from the manga artist's other works.
More Pico Park for existing fans! Up to eight players can join in locally or online. Cooperative puzzle-solving is the name of the game. Great for those who enjoyed the first game, but unlikely to attract newcomers due to its similarity to the original.
An affordable rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio music. Simple, enjoyable, and a great value for the price.
A classic Sokoban-style puzzle game with a penguin twist. One hundred levels of crate-pushing fun.
Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Utilize your character's abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Supports up to four players locally or online.
