The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings new life to Bethesda's iconic game, enhancing visuals, gameplay mechanics, and more, yet the team at Virtuos chose to preserve one of the original's most memorable lines. This remaster, which reimagines the beloved world of Cyrodiil, launched yesterday for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S.

Veteran fans of The Elder Scrolls series are well acquainted with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf found in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first hit PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, Tandilwe's dialogue became infamous for a particular voice acting blooper. The line, recorded by actress Linda Kenyon, was thought to be a mistake that inadvertently made it into the game.

As players ventured back into a revitalized Cyrodiil, many were eager to see how much of the original charm remained in this ground-up remaster. While the environments, character models, and items have been beautifully updated, fans are thrilled to find that many beloved quirks and flaws from the 2006 release are still present. Tandilwe's iconic blooper, complete with its lack of subtitles, has returned to the delight of the community.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon acknowledged the blooper's fame, humorously stating, "It wasn't my fault!"

While thousands of players debate whether The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered leans more towards a remake than a remaster, many appreciate the preservation of the game's original jank. Both Bethesda and Virtuos made a concerted effort to maintain these elements, and the response from both new and returning players has been overwhelmingly positive.

The surprise launch of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has also seen the modding community rally together, releasing numerous mods shortly after the remaster's announcement.
