A game developer's resume hints at a potential surprise: Gotham Knights may be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. Let's delve into the details of this exciting possibility!
On January 5th, 2025, YouTuber Doctre81 ignited speculation that Gotham Knights could be headed to the Nintendo Switch 2. The source? A game developer's resume, showcasing past work on Gotham Knights for two yet-to-be-released platforms.
This developer, formerly with QLOC (2018-2023), listed various titles including Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. The intriguing addition? Gotham Knights, earmarked for two unannounced consoles.
One platform might be the original Nintendo Switch, given a past ESRB rating. However, performance issues on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S could hinder a direct port. The second unreleased platform strongly suggests the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.While Warner Bros. Games and Nintendo remain silent, this is purely speculative. But with the Switch 2 the only major unreleased console on the horizon, the possibility is certainly intriguing.
Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights was rumored for a Nintendo Switch release after receiving an ESRB rating. Some even predicted a Nintendo Direct announcement.
However, the game never materialized on the original Switch, and the ESRB rating vanished from their site. Could this past rating, coupled with the recent YouTube report, hint at a Switch 2 launch instead?
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa tweeted on May 7, 2024, promising more details on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year." With Nintendo's fiscal year ending in March 2025, the official announcement is imminent.
Furukawa also confirmed backwards compatibility, stating that "Nintendo Switch software" and "Nintendo Switch Online" will be supported. The use of physical cartridges, however, remains unconfirmed.
