Metaphor: ReFantazio has a chance to become a series - game director

Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio's future, Hashino confirmed there are no immediate plans for a sequel. His focus remains on completing the current project, which he originally conceived as a third major JRPG franchise alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become a flagship Atlus title.

While a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel isn't currently in development, the team is already working on their next game. An anime adaptation, however, is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has been a significant success for Atlus, achieving the company's best-ever concurrent player count on launch.

The game's peak concurrent player count reached 85,961, surpassing Persona 5 Royal (35,474 players) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002 players). Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
