Nintendo has announced the addition of two beloved F-Zero GBA racing games to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack library!

F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend Speed Onto Switch Online

Launching October 11, 2024

Starting October 11th, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can experience the thrill of high-speed racing with F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax.

The F-Zero franchise, Nintendo's iconic futuristic racing series, debuted in Japan over 30 years ago (1990) and quickly gained critical acclaim. Its influence is undeniable, inspiring other racing franchises like SEGA's Daytona USA. Known for pushing the boundaries of console technology in its time, F-Zero remains celebrated as one of the fastest racing games on retro consoles like the SNES.

Like the popular Mario Kart series, F-Zero challenges players to navigate treacherous tracks, overcome obstacles, and outmaneuver opponents in their powerful "F-Zero machines." The series' star, Captain Falcon, is also a recognizable fighter in Super Smash Bros.

F-Zero: GP Legend initially launched in Japan in 2003, followed by a worldwide release in 2004. F-Zero Climax, released in Japan in 2004, remained region-locked until now, marking a 19-year wait for global players. In a past interview, F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura cited Mario Kart's popularity as a contributing factor to the F-Zero series' extended hiatus.

This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack brings both F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend to subscribers. Prepare for intense competition in Grand Prix, story modes, and various time trials.
