Recent reports from Niko Partners, a leading video game market research firm, suggest a mobile version of Final Fantasy XIV is in the works, a joint venture between Square Enix and Tencent. This follows an NPPA (China’s National Press and Publication Administration) approval list for 15 games slated for release in China, including this unconfirmed FFXIV mobile title. Other notable titles on the list include mobile and PC versions of Rainbow Six, and mobile games based on Marvel Snap, Marvel Rivals, and Dynasty Warriors 8.

While industry speculation points towards a standalone mobile MMORPG separate from the PC version, neither Tencent nor Square Enix have officially confirmed the project. This information, as noted by Niko Partners' Daniel Ahmad on X (formerly Twitter), stems largely from industry sources.
