World of Warcraft's annual Feast of Winter Veil, a festive in-game event mirroring Christmas, returns with fresh rewards and activities. This year's celebration is enhanced by a new lore video, a collaboration between Blizzard and PlatinumWoW, delving into the rich history of this beloved holiday.

The video explores the diverse origins of Winter Veil, weaving together Dwarven myths of Greatfather Winter – a Titan-forged giant who brings the snow – and Tauren traditions of spiritual renewal and gratitude to the Earthmother. It also humorously highlights the commercialization of the holiday by the Goblin-run Smokeywood Pastures, a parallel to real-world Christmas traditions.

Metzen the Reindeer's Misadventures

No Winter Veil story is complete without mentioning Metzen the Reindeer, named after former Blizzard creative director Chris Metzen. This unfortunate reindeer has a history of being kidnapped, with past abductions by pirates, Dark Iron Dwarves, and even the Grinch! The video concludes with a fittingly amusing thank you from Metzen, voiced in Thrall's iconic tone (a nod to Metzen's voice acting).
