No Man's Sky: A Guide to Acquiring Solanium
Solanium, a crucial resource in No Man's Sky, is exclusively found on planets with specific climates. This guide details how to locate, farm, and craft this valuable material.
Unlike Frost Crystals, Solanium is harvested from hot, arid environments. Before landing, scan planets from your ship to identify those with a hot, dry climate (e.g., Arid, Incandescent, Boiling, Scorched). The scanner will indicate Solanium as a available resource.
Once landed, utilize your Analysis Visor to locate Solar Vines—tall, rock-like structures with glowing vines. These plants are abundant in specific areas. Remember, you'll need a Haz-Mat Gauntlet to harvest them. While you're there, consider collecting Phosphorus deposits; it's a key ingredient in Solanium crafting.
After progressing the Farmer's Agricultural Research mission, establish a hydroponic farm. Plant Solar Vines in Hydroponic Trays or Bio-Domes, using 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus. Alternatively, if your base is situated on a hot planet, direct ground planting is possible. Allow approximately 16 real-time hours for the vines to mature before harvesting.
Several Refiner recipes yield Solanium, most requiring Phosphorus (often obtained from hot planets, or purchased from traders/Galactic Trade Terminals). Here are the recipes:
Note that all methods, including Sulphurine-based recipes, necessitate a visit to a hot planet. To consistently have Sulphurine, it's advisable to stockpile Phosphorus and establish a base farm.
