Sega and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio appear to have accidentally leaked Yakuza Kiwami 3, hinting that an official announcement may be imminent.
Users on X/Twitter and Reddit started building excitement after spotting faint references to Yakuza Kiwami 3 on the series’ official website. The original post, which briefly noted a third installment in the Yakuza remake series, has since been taken down—but fans managed to screenshot the leak before its removal.

.reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; }The Kiwami series comprises RGG’s remakes of the original Yakuza titles. Yakuza Kiwami 1, for instance, is a 2016 reimagining of the first Yakuza game, while Yakuza Kiwami 2 revisits Yakuza 2. Though Yakuza Kiwami 3 hasn’t been officially confirmed, if RGG proceeds as fans anticipate, it will likely be a remake of the 2009 PlayStation 3 game, Yakuza 3.
If RGG does plan to reveal anything about Yakuza Kiwami 3, it wouldn’t come as a shock. The studio is set to host its annual RGG Summit on September 24, followed immediately by an RGG Direct. Many anticipated major updates for the Like a Dragon franchise, and this alleged leak arrived just one week ahead of the event.
Like a Dragon series director Masayoshi Yokoyama also commented on Yakuza Kiwami 3 in April 2024. While he advised fans to temper their enthusiasm as the team focused on other projects, he hinted that a third Kiwami title remains a possibility.
“I’ll just say that I think I’ll do Kiwami 3 at some point,” Yokoyama said then. “I’m sure I’ll do it someday.”
Now, over a year later, fans suspect RGG may finally be prepared to discuss Yakuza Kiwami 3 in earnest.
