Stellar Blade, Shift Up's first non-gacha title in the US, boasts impressive reviews, praised for its challenging Soulslike gameplay, stunning visuals, killer soundtrack, and distinctive character designs.

In our review, Mitchell Saltzman noted that Stellar Blade shines with its gorgeous presentation and well-crafted action, but stumbles slightly with a less-developed story and characters, and some underdeveloped RPG elements like repetitive side quests. However, the exceptional Sekiro-inspired combat, formidable enemies, and rewarding exploration more than compensate for these shortcomings. IGN gave it a 7/10, though personally, I found it far more deserving of a higher score. While it didn't make our Best PS5 Games of 2024 list (due to its recent release), it's certainly worth considering.

For optimal performance, I recommend playing in "Performance" mode for a smooth 60fps experience on the standard PS5. PS5 Pro owners can enjoy the best of both worlds with "Enhanced" 4K mode while still maintaining excellent frame rates. The official PlayStation blog highlights that PS5 Pro players can experience Stellar Blade in 4K at 50fps or higher, with enhanced visuals and a high frame rate (HFR) option supporting up to 80fps (requires a 120hz display).
