Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation
Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited fan speculation about a potential return of his character, Poe Dameron. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 Celebration appearance, where she announced her involvement in a new Star Wars film.
The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with The Rise of Skywalker, and Isaac's stance on returning to the franchise has evolved. Initially expressing reluctance (in 2020, stating he'd only return for "another house or something"), he later shifted to a more open position in 2022, telling Variety he was "open to anything."
Isaac's past criticisms of Disney, including their rejection of his proposed Poe/Finn romance, haven't dampened the excitement. Similar past negativity from John Boyega hasn't precluded the possibility of his return either.
This speculation centers around the upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has publicly expressed her desire for Boyega's return, making a reunion of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio – Rey, Finn, and Poe – a strong possibility.
While Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer clues, definitive answers remain elusive due to Disney's repeated delays of several announced Star Wars projects. The Rey film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, currently has a tentative release date of December 17, 2027, at the earliest.

The inclusion of Poe, completing the core trio, would be a significant development. Fans will eagerly await further updates, but the extended wait highlights the uncertainty surrounding the future of the Star Wars franchise.
