Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast along with a brand-new teaser trailer, sparking varied reactions, including from Movie Sonic, who seems unsure about Shrek's new look.
In a humorous video posted on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," showcasing Movie Sonic's transformation from his initial controversial live-action design to the much more favorably received version released months later.

IGN provided the first glimpse of the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018, which received mixed feedback, particularly regarding the character's teeth, physique, small eyes, and human-like fingers.
In response to the backlash, director Jeff Fowler opted to revise the controversial design of the iconic character, promising a more faithful representation. The redesign was much better received by fans and critics alike.
While the reactions to Shrek's new appearance are not as divisive as Sonic's initial live-action reveal, Sonic's playful response has entertained his fanbase.
"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," remarked one commenter, while another expressed disbelief with, "No way they actually posted this," accompanied by a crying emoji.
The fifth installment of the Shrek franchise was initially announced in 2016 but remained dormant until Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023, alongside plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has since shifted Shrek 5's release to December 23, 2026, with Minions 3, a spin-off from Despicable Me 3, taking its former slot.
