World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 brings a remarkable visual overhaul to Shamans, with abilities like Lightning Bolt, Crash Lightning, and several others receiving stunning facelifts. While numerous classes benefit from new or enhanced ability visuals in the patch, Shamans stand out with the most attention – though not all fans are fully on board with the revamped particle effects.
Currently available on the Public Test Realm, Patch 11.1, dubbed "Undermined," offers players an early glimpse into the upcoming changes. Alongside new zones, instances, and a plethora of activities and rewards, the patch includes balance adjustments for every class, notably a comprehensive rework for the Hunter class.
Many classes see their abilities receive fresh visual effects, and Shamans are at the forefront of these updates. Lightning Bolt, Crash Lightning, and Fire Nova have undergone complete visual overhauls, while Frost Shock now boasts new VFX and sounds when used in conjunction with Ice Strike. Additionally, Ghost Wolf now scales with character models and has a slightly more transparent appearance, and the Glyph of Spirit Raptors is now compatible with the Flowing Spirits talent. Despite the excitement, not all Shaman enthusiasts are fully convinced by the VFX overhaul in Patch 11.1. While the updates to Crash Lightning, Fire Nova, and other abilities receive high praise, some fans feel the Lightning Bolt animation could use further refinement. The channeling effect is appreciated, but the return to the projectile lightning ball visual from World of Warcraft Classic, rather than the instantaneous bolt from Cataclysm, has left some disappointed.
Overall, the community largely embraces the visual updates in Patch 11.1. There's hope that Blizzard will eventually introduce new Glyphs allowing players to revert to some of the more beloved original VFX, similar to the Shaman Ascendance forms added in World of Warcraft Patch 11.0.5.
In addition to revamping existing abilities, Patch 11.1 introduces several new skills to the game. Shamans can look forward to Primordial Storm, Druids to Symbiotic Relationship, and Windwalker Monks to Slicing Winds – the first Empowered spell outside the Evoker class, Earthen racial abilities, or Plunderstorm. Players eager to try out these new talents and the enhanced visuals of old ones can anticipate the full release of the next World of Warcraft update, expected around February 25.
