The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is a fantastic drive for both your gaming PC and PS5. It easily surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements, boasting sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,250MB/s and 6,300MB/s respectively. While not quite as fast as the 990 Pro, it's significantly faster than the standard 990 Evo. The key difference? This is a DRAM-less drive. For PS5 gaming, this makes absolutely no difference. For PCs, it utilizes HMB (host memory buffer), borrowing a negligible amount of system RAM – gamers won't perceive any performance impact.
This drive lacks a pre-installed heatsink. However, its newer, single-sided design is energy-efficient and generates less heat than older SSDs.
