Respawn Cancels Unannounced Multiplayer Shooter Set in the Titanfall Universe

A former employee of Respawn Entertainment recently shared on her LinkedIn profile that the studio has abruptly halted the development of a new game this week. The project, which had been in the works for several years, was stopped without any public explanation regarding the reasons behind the decision.

Last year, industry insider Jeff Grubb reported that the game in question was not a mainline entry in the Titanfall series, specifically clarifying that it was not Titanfall 3. To bring this vision to life, Respawn established an "experimental team" dedicated to the project, consisting of experts in multiplayer shooter development.

This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project. Last year, they also shut down an arcade shooter known internally as Titanfall Legends. The studio's track record with the Titanfall series, which began with its debut in 2014, has been marked by innovative gameplay that seamlessly blends high-octane action with mech piloting. Players can engage in combat either as agile pilots or within the confines of powerful Titans. The series has cultivated a dedicated following due to its unique combination of parkour mechanics and intense team-based battles.

Currently, Respawn's development efforts are concentrated on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series and a new strategy game set within the Star Wars universe, developed in partnership with Bit Reactor. These projects represent the studio's ongoing commitment to delivering engaging and high-quality gaming experiences.
