R.E.P.O Console Release Confirmed

*R.E.P.O.*, the gripping co-op horror game that hit the market in February, has captured the attention of over 200,000 PC gamers. But fans eager to experience *R.E.P.O.* on consoles might be disappointed: the game is currently a PC exclusive, and there are no confirmed plans for a console release.

Is R.E.P.O. Coming to Consoles?

As of now, *R.E.P.O.* remains firmly in the PC realm. The game's developer, semiwork, has not indicated any interest in bringing the game to consoles. Instead, they are focused on perfecting the multiplayer experience on PC, which has encountered challenges, particularly around cheating.

The core issue revolves around the game's multiplayer mechanics, designed to be integral to *R.E.P.O.*. Semiwork is grappling with the need to enhance these mechanics while preventing the game from becoming a hotspot for cheaters. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you're ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don't work with an anti-cheat system. And we don't want that," the developer explained, as reported by PCGamer. This concern must be resolved before any consideration of a console port could even begin.

While other PC-exclusive games like *Mouthwashing* have made the leap to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, making its transition smoother. Similarly, games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share *R.E.P.O.*'s theme of evading monsters, have stayed PC-only. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* mentioned exploring a console version but cited technical difficulties, and no further updates have been provided since.

Therefore, the current stance on *R.E.P.O.* coming to consoles is clear: semiwork is prioritizing the refinement of the PC version's multiplayer aspects, with no plans announced for a console release.
