This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a powerful Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon's pre-evolutions, Deino and Zweilous, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet, requiring trading or transferring to obtain them in Pokémon Violet.

Obtaining Deino:

  • Pokémon Scarlet: Find Deino in the Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (levels 35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage. Koraidon's jump ability is helpful for accessing Alfornada Cavern. Three-star Tera Raids also offer Deino, potentially with its Hidden Ability.
  • Pokémon Violet: Trade with a Pokémon Scarlet player via the Union Circle (requires Nintendo Switch Online) or transfer Deino from Pokémon HOME. Pokémon HOME supports transfers from Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Scarlet. Transfer instructions:
    1. Move Deino to your Basic Box in Pokémon HOME.
    2. Open Pokémon Violet in HOME and move Deino to a PC Box.

Obtaining Zweilous:

Zweilous, Deino's evolution, can be found in the wild at Dalizapa Passage, Area Zero, and Alfornada Cavern, or in four-star Tera Raids.

Obtaining Hydreigon:

Hydreigon appears in five and six-star Tera Raids.

Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Utilize auto-battling or Exp. Candies (especially L and XL) to expedite the evolution process.

Hydreigon's Strengths and Weaknesses:

Hydreigon boasts a 600 base stat total, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid or Jolly Nature is recommended.

HP 92
Attack 105
Sp. Attack 125
Defense 90
Sp. Def 90
Speed 98
Total 600

Type Effectiveness:

  • Strengths: Dragon, Ghost, Psychic
  • Weaknesses: Fairy (4x), Fighting, Bug, Dragon, Ice
  • Resistances: Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, Dark
  • Immunities: Ground, Psychic

Terastallizing mitigates Hydreigon's 4x weakness to Fairy-type moves. Flash Cannon (via TM) is a crucial Steel-type move to counter this weakness. Other recommended moves include Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse. Hydreigon's movepool allows for both physical and special attack builds.

This comprehensive guide ensures you can successfully add Hydreigon to your Pokémon team. Remember to utilize the resources available to obtain and effectively train this powerful Pokémon.
