Bagon's Location (Pokémon Violet):
Bagon can be found in several locations within Pokémon Violet:
- East Province (Area Three): This expansive area, with its numerous caves, offers a high chance of encountering Bagon.
- South Province (Area Five): A fixed spawn Bagon resides atop a mountain southwest of the bridge connecting the grassy and rocky regions.
- Dalizapa Passage: Located north of the Great Crater and south of Glaseado Mountain, this area features a deep hole accessible by Koraidon/Miraidon, containing various rare Pokémon including Bagon and Frigibax.
- 3-Star Tera Raids: Once you've obtained three Gym Badges, Bagon will appear in 3-Star Tera Raids. Note that its Tera Type may differ from its standard type.
Obtaining Bagon in Pokémon Scarlet:
Since Bagon is Violet-exclusive, you must acquire it through trading or Pokémon HOME:
- Trading: Use the Union Circle to trade with a Pokémon Violet player. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for online features.
- Pokémon HOME: Transfer Bagon from compatible games (Sword/Shield, Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, etc.) to your Pokémon Scarlet game via Pokémon HOME.
Evolving Bagon:
- Bagon to Shelgon: Level Bagon up to level 30.
- Shelgon to Salamence: Level Shelgon up to level 50. Exp. Candy (L, XL, or M) significantly accelerates this process. Auto-battling against Pokémon near their level, such as Chansey (found in various locations), is another efficient method. 4-Star and 5/6-Star Tera Raids also offer chances to encounter Shelgon and Salamence, respectively.
Is Salamence a Valuable Pokémon?
Salamence, a Dragon/Flying pseudo-legendary Pokémon (600 base stat total), is a highly sought-after addition to any team.
-
Stats: HP: 95, Attack: 135, Sp. Attack: 110, Defense: 80, Sp. Defense: 80, Speed: 100. An Adamant (+Attack, -Special Attack) or Lonely (+Attack, -Defense) nature is recommended for a physical attacker. A Timid (+Speed, -Attack) nature is suitable for a special attacker.
-
Strengths & Weaknesses: Salamence is super effective against Dragon-type Pokémon. However, it has a quadruple weakness to Ice-type moves and is also weak to Fairy, Dragon, and Rock-type attacks. It resists Grass, Water, Fire, Fighting, and Bug-type moves, and is immune to Ground-type moves.
-
Recommended Moves: Salamence's high Attack stat makes physical moves like Dragon Claw ideal. Iron Head (TM099) counters its Fairy and Rock weaknesses. For a special attacker, Draco Meteor and Flamethrower are excellent choices.

This comprehensive guide ensures you can successfully add Salamence to your Pokémon Scarlet and Violet team.
