Pokemon GO Reveals New Gigantamax Debut Coming in Future Event

Summary

  • Gigantamax Kingler makes its Pokémon GO debut on February 1st during Max Battle Day.
  • Max Mushrooms boost battle damage.
  • Event bonuses include increased Max Particle collection, more frequent Power Spot battles, and boosted XP rewards.

Pokémon GO announced the arrival of Gigantamax Kingler on February 1st. Last year's highly anticipated Dynamax and Gigantamax update has steadily expanded the roster of available forms. Gigantamax, a powerful Dynamax variant, not only increases a Pokémon's size and strength but also alters its appearance and grants unique G-Max Moves. While the main series games feature 32 Gigantamax-capable Pokémon, Pokémon GO currently boasts only six, with Gigantamax Lapras being the most recent addition. This number is about to increase, thanks to a new event.

Gigantamax Kingler will debut in Pokémon GO's Max Battle Day on February 1st, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. This Water-type Pokémon will be available for the first time in six-star Max Battles, offering a chance to encounter a Shiny variant. Players can utilize Max Mushrooms—a controversial item temporarily increasing damage dealt by Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Battles—to enhance their teams.

Max Battle Day is one of February's featured events, but not the only one. Niantic recently announced the Lunar New Year event (January 29th – February 1st). While Gigantamax Kingler won't appear during this event, players can still anticipate other exciting happenings, including the return of Shadow Ho-Oh in a Shadow Raid Day on January 19th and the arrival of more Galar Pokémon in the coming days.
