Pokémon TCG Pocket Players Blown Away After Discovering Some Cards Reference Iconic Game Boy Locations

Pokémon TCG Pocket's captivating card art has captivated players for months, but recently, hidden details connecting the artwork to the original Game Boy games have surfaced.

The discovery began when a Reddit user, asch_win, highlighted the Spearow card's background. The seemingly innocuous scene of grass, a fence, trees, and buildings actually depicts Celadon City's Department Store (from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen) and Route 16, a known Spearow habitat.

This intentional nod to the classic games sparked further investigation. Another Reddit user, jteede, uncovered additional connections: a Diglett card near Vermillion City, a Haunter card near Lavender Town's tower, and more. asch_win also revealed location-specific references within Supporter cards.

Many cards feature fantastical settings unrelated to established Pokémon lore. Some, like a Pikachu variant, mirror real-world collectible cards. However, the hidden Easter eggs are unique to Pokémon TCG Pocket.

The community is actively searching for more references. Recent findings include the S.S. Anne on a Gyarados card, and a storyline linking Oddish, Venonat, and Bellsprout cards to the Snorlax location in FireRed and LeafGreen's seaside area.

Since its October release, Pokémon TCG Pocket has received one additional booster expansion, Mythical Island, bringing the total to four. Further expansions are anticipated, along with new cards through Wonder Pick Events and updates. Players are encouraged to continue exploring the cards for more hidden references.

Currently, a Wonder Pick event featuring Charmander and Squirtle is underway. There's also ongoing speculation regarding the impact of pack choice on card rarity.
