NieR: Automata - Farming and Purchasing Machine Arms: A Comprehensive Guide

Obtaining Machine Arms in NieR: Automata is crucial for weapon and pod upgrades. While plentiful later, acquiring them early requires dedicated farming. This guide details the best farming locations and a reliable late-game purchase option.

Farming Machine Arms:

Machine Arms have a low drop rate from defeated small machines. The drop rate increases with enemy level, making early acquisition challenging. To maximize your chances early in the game, focus on quickly eliminating as many small machines as possible.

Post-Chapter 4 Farming Hotspot:

After completing Chapter 4 and your first encounter with Adam, a pit filled with continuously respawning enemies becomes available. This is located in the Desert: Housing Complex area. Use fast travel to reach this access point and follow the path into the ruins.

While the machines here aren't high-level, resulting in a low Machine Arm drop rate, the rapid respawn rate makes this the most efficient early-game farming location. This area is also ideal for farming Titanium Alloy. Using a Drop Rate Plug-In Chip can slightly improve your yield.

The following section contains minor spoilers for the final playthrough of NieR: Automata.

Purchasing Machine Arms:

During the final playthrough, playing as A2, you can choose to erase Pascal's memories after the village robots are destroyed. This unlocks Pascal as a merchant, accessible until the game's end. He sells various machine parts, including Machine Arms. Pascal's inventory includes:

  • Machine Heads - 15,000 G
  • Machine Arm - 1,125 G
  • Machine Leg - 1,125 G
  • Machine Torso - 1,125 G
  • Machine Head - 1,125 G (Duplicate entry likely a typo in the original)
  • Children's Cores - 30,000 G

This provides a reliable and consistent method to obtain Machine Arms once this option becomes available.
