Mastering Monster Capture Techniques in Monster Hunter Wilds

Slaying monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is a thrilling experience, but capturing them to harvest all their parts can be just as rewarding. Here’s a detailed guide on how to effectively capture monsters and the essentials you'll need to do so.

Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

The process of capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is straightforward yet crucial for obtaining the best materials. The key is to weaken the monster first, set a trap, and then use a Tranq item to secure the capture. Here’s how to do it:

First, you need to damage the monster until it’s significantly weakened. Your Palico will signal when the monster is ready to be captured. Additionally, look for visual cues like a skull icon appearing over the monster's icon on your minimap, and physical signs such as the monster limping or drooling, indicating low HP.

Once the monster is weak, it’s time to deploy your trap. You can use either a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap. Place the trap on the ground and lure the monster into it. When the monster steps into the trap, it will be immobilized for a brief period. This is your opportunity to use Tranq Bombs. Typically, one or two Tranq Bombs are enough to knock the monster out, allowing you to capture it. Alternatively, you can use Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades, depending on your weapon and preferred playstyle.

Successfully capturing a monster will complete your quest, and you'll be transported back to Base Camp with your rewards.

How to Get Traps and Tranq Items

While your Palico can occasionally set traps for you, it's wise to carry your own into battle. There are two main types of traps: Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps. To craft a Pitfall Trap, you'll need a Trap Tool and a Net, which can be made from Spiderwebs or Ivy. For a Shock Trap, you'll need a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.

For Tranq items, you can craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. These bombs can then be combined with Throwing Knives to create Tranq Blades or with Normal Ammo to make Tranq Ammo.

That’s the complete guide on capturing monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed information on the game, make sure to visit The Escapist.
