Marvel Rivals: PvE Mode Remains Unconfirmed, but NetEase is Exploring Options
While Marvel Rivals is a relatively new game, player anticipation for significant content additions is high. Recent speculation surrounding a potential PvE boss fight fueled rumors of an upcoming PvE mode. However, NetEase recently clarified that a dedicated PvE mode isn't currently in development.
During a conversation with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, the possibility of a PvE mode was directly addressed. Wu stated that while there are no concrete plans at present, the development team is actively experimenting with various gameplay modes. The addition of a new mode would depend on its entertainment value and overall appeal.
Following this statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo inquired about my personal preference for a PvE mode. Wu elaborated, acknowledging player interest in a PvE experience but highlighting the significant differences such a mode would introduce compared to the current gameplay. The team is exploring alternative approaches, potentially focusing on a "lighter" PvE experience, to determine the best fit for the game.
Therefore, while a full-fledged PvE mode isn't currently on the roadmap, NetEase is exploring less extensive PvE options, perhaps limited-time events or similar additions. Further details remain undisclosed.
Marvel Rivals continues to receive updates every six weeks, introducing new characters. The Human Torch and The Thing are slated for release on February 21st. Separate discussions with Wu and Koo also covered potential Nintendo Switch 2 release and the topic of alleged "fake" hero leaks in the game's code.
