Ubisoft previously announced Star Wars: Outlaws as a confirmed title for the Nintendo Switch 2, but today we learned the galactic adventure won't be available at launch when Nintendo's new handheld debuts on June 5. Instead, players will need to wait until September 4 for its arrival on the platform.
For those who haven't experienced it on PS5, Xbox or PC, Star Wars Outlaws takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, following the story of Kay Vess, a petty criminal who gains a deadly bounty from a powerful cartel. Our review scored it a 7/10, describing it as "an entertaining space heist adventure with impressive exploration elements, though hampered by basic stealth mechanics, repetitive combat encounters, and some technical issues at launch."
While Ubisoft provided few additional details beyond reconfirming the Nintendo Switch 2 release date, this information at least allows us to update the Switch 2 Games List. With North American gamers facing pre-order uncertainty due to Nintendo evaluating the impact of new tariffs imposed by recent trade policies, any updates about upcoming Switch 2 titles offer welcome news for eager fans.
The announcement came during a Star Wars Celebration panel in Japan, where Ubisoft also previewed the game's second story expansion, A Pirate's Fortune. This DLC will feature Kay Vess teaming up with the infamous pirate Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, leader of the Rokana Raiders. Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate's Fortune launches May 15 across all platforms.
