KEMCO's latest Android release, Novel Rogue, is a captivating pixel-art fantasy JRPG with roguelite elements and card deck-building mechanics. This enchanting adventure immerses players in the magical world of the Ancient Library, where they assume the role of Wright, a young apprentice under the tutelage of Yuisil, the Witch of Portals.
Wright embarks on a journey through four mystical books, each transporting him to a unique and richly detailed world. One book plunges him into a quest to aid a princess knight in reclaiming her fallen kingdom, while another unveils the enigmatic mysteries of the underworld. The choices players make significantly impact these worlds, ensuring a dynamic and replayable experience with no two playthroughs alike.
Gameplay Mechanics:
Novel Rogue's core gameplay revolves around a turn-based card battle system that adapts to the specific book being explored. Each of the four worlds features its own distinct deck-building system. Players defeat enemies, select three new cards after each battle, and strategically craft the ultimate deck to overcome challenges.
Innovative gameplay features include a "Change" command allowing players to redistribute damage among allies, and "Novel Power," which empowers decks through the strategic use of ink. For those seeking a greater challenge, the "Deep Record" mode significantly increases dungeon difficulty, offering high-stakes battles for seasoned players.
Beyond combat, players collect treasures to foster relationships with characters, ultimately unlocking special endings. Aesthetic customization is provided through "Witch Stones," enabling players to change character costumes and personalize their appearance.
Novel Rogue is available now on the Google Play Store as a free-to-play title. A premium version is also offered, providing 150 bonus Witch Stones and additional benefits such as an ad-free experience.
