Mastering Hyper Light Breaker's Hoverboard: A Comprehensive Guide

The sprawling, procedurally generated world of Hyper Light Breaker's Overgrowth can feel daunting to navigate. Fortunately, the game provides a secret weapon from the outset: the Hoverboard. This guide will detail how to use this essential tool and reveal some of its hidden functionalities.

How to Summon the Hoverboard

Summoning the Hoverboard is surprisingly simple. Simply hold down the Dodge button. Your character will dash forward and automatically mount the Hoverboard as long as you continue holding the Dodge input.

Hoverboard Controls and Deactivation

Movement is intuitive. Holding the left analog stick steers the Hoverboard, with turning responsiveness varying based on speed (slower speeds allow for tighter turns). To dismount, release the Dodge button. The Hoverboard will also automatically deactivate if your Energy depletes. Your current Energy level is displayed next to your companion. Remember to dismount briefly to replenish your Energy to avoid unexpected dismounts.

Advanced Hoverboard Techniques and Uses

While the Hoverboard doesn't offer tricks or combat capabilities, it possesses several key advantages:

  • Water Navigation: The Hoverboard seamlessly traverses water, eliminating the need to circumvent waterways. However, you must already be on the Hoverboard to enter water; you cannot summon it while submerged.

  • Enhanced Jumping: While double-jumping isn't possible, holding the Jump button while on the Hoverboard allows for a controlled descent before jumping, aiding in precise long-distance jumps and gap crossings. Note that ducking doesn't increase speed or jump height.

By mastering these techniques, you'll significantly improve your traversal of the Overgrowth, making exploration more efficient and enjoyable.
