Home > News > Dragon Age The Veilguard game director leaves BioWare, players expect studio to shut down
The success of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is undeniable, yet unsettling news from BioWare has emerged. Recent online chatter, originating from sources described as "agenda fighters," alleged the closure of BioWare Edmonton and the departure of The Veilguard's game director.
Eurogamer journalists corroborate at least part of this, confirming the departure of Corinne Boucher in the coming weeks. Boucher, an 18-year EA veteran, primarily worked on The Sims franchise.
However, Eurogamer clarifies that claims of The Veilguard's closure remain purely speculative.
Critical reception of The Veilguard is mixed. While some hail it as a triumphant return to form for BioWare, others view it as a solid, albeit unremarkable, RPG.
At the time of writing, Metacritic shows no overwhelmingly negative reviews. Many reviewers lauded the engaging and dynamic action RPG gameplay, particularly challenging at higher difficulty settings.
Conversely, some, like VGC, criticized the gameplay as feeling outdated and lacking innovation. The game's reception highlights a divergence in opinion regarding its overall quality and originality.
