Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is developing The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for a quality level comparable to The Witcher 3, albeit with a more focused scope. This article delves into the upcoming title and the director's vision.
In an interview with GamesRadar, creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the studio's AAA aspirations. While acknowledging the smaller scale of their debut project compared to established AAA titles, he emphasized a commitment to high-quality development, drawing parallels to the benchmark set by The Witcher 3.
The team at Rebel Wolves, boasting veterans from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, aims for a robust, albeit shorter, experience. Tomaszkiewicz anticipates a 30-40 hour main campaign, challenging the notion that playtime directly equates to AAA status. He rightly points out that many AAA titles, such as Call of Duty, don't offer 100+ hour campaigns.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in Vale Sangora. Players embody Coen, a peasant imbued with vampiric powers, embarking on a quest to save his sister while navigating the treacherous landscape.
Currently, there's no official release date, but the game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a gameplay reveal expected in Summer 2025.
