Blizzard cancels Diablo 3 event extension

Diablo 3's annual "Fall of Tristram" event is currently underway, though some players wish the nostalgic celebration would stay beyond its scheduled February 1 conclusion.

Community manager Pezradar addressed fan requests for an extension with disappointing news: "I inquired about keeping Tristram running longer, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded into the game. Server-side adjustments simply aren't possible."

The community manager also addressed frustration surrounding Season 34's delayed "Call of Light" launch: "I know this disrupts weekend plans, and I apologize. We received notice about the required postponement just 24 hours beforehand. The development team needs this extra time to implement and test new seasonal transition code after the automatic scheduler prematurely ended Season 33 in early January."

"This additional development period ensures a smooth progression transfer between seasons while protecting player account data," Pezradar continued. "We recognize the need for earlier communication about such changes, and the team is committed to improving this going forward."

The gaming world recently saw Wolcen Studio unveil Project Pantheon - an intriguing free-to-play RPG that merges extraction shooter mechanics with traditional action RPG elements. European players will get first access during closed alpha testing beginning January 25, with North American players joining the fray on February 1.

"We've merged the high-stakes tension of extraction shooters with deep ARPG combat systems," explained game director Andrei Cirkulete. The upcoming title appears to blend Diablo's loot-driven gameplay with Escape from Tarkov's punishing survival mechanics. Players will assume the role of Death's enforcers, tasked with restoring balance to a shattered world.
