In an official statement, 4A Games clarified its relationship with Reburn, offering congratulations on La Quimera while reiterating its dedication to the Metro series. The statement emphasized: "We remain the team responsible for the beloved Metro games. Our work on the next Metro installment continues in collaboration with Dmitry Glukhovsky, led by the same visionary team that has shaped the series since its inception."
Beyond the upcoming Metro sequel, 4A Games hinted at development on a new, unannounced IP. The studio highlighted its Ukrainian heritage and diverse team, noting that approximately 150 of its over 200 employees remain based in Kyiv, with additional offices in Sliema, Malta, and remote workers.
Regarding the studio split, 4A Games explained: "After completing Metro Exodus and its DLC, we partnered with 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we established 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, adding roughly 50 more colleagues. Concurrently, 4A Games Ukraine launched its independent venture with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn."
Since the 2019 release of Metro Exodus, fan anticipation for a sequel has grown amidst limited updates. While spin-offs and enhancements like the Enhanced Edition maintained interest, many eagerly await the next installment in Dmitry Glukhovsky's post-apocalyptic world. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), 4A Games initially teased a new Metro game in 2019, suggesting a release within the "202X" timeframe before remaining silent. It now appears that this wait may soon conclude.
