LEGO's foray into video games began nearly 31 years ago with LEGO Fun to Build on the SEGA Pico. Since then, games built around these iconic Danish bricks and minifigures have blossomed into their own genre, largely thanks to Traveller's Tales' addictive blend of action-platforming and the countless pop-culture properties they've LEGO-fied.
Narrowing down the best was a challenge, but we've compiled our Top 10 LEGO games of all time (so far!). Don't forget to check out the recently released LEGO Fortnite!
No LEGO game list is complete without the original 1997 PC adventure, LEGO Island. While its graphics may seem dated, its charm endures. Stop an escaped convict from destroying LEGO Island, brick by brick! Its diverse characters and surprisingly open world make for a fun, nostalgic adventure. Finding a copy might be tricky, but the trip to LEGO Island is well worth it (just watch out for the Brickster!).
LEGO The Lord of the Rings cleverly uses audio from the movies, creating a surprisingly effective and humorous experience. Witness Boromir's death scene with a comedic twist! It boasts a large roster, including book characters like Tom Bombadil, along with the familiar puzzles and action we expect from LEGO games. A true contender, though not quite the top of the list.

Surprisingly well-executed, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures playfully reimagines the films in LEGO form without losing the essence of the source material. Gameplay is significantly improved from earlier LEGO Star Wars titles, focusing on puzzles and exploration alongside combat. Local co-op makes this a timeless classic.

A unique entry, LEGO DC Super-Villains lets you play as the bad guys! It’s a testament to the LEGO games' charm that this rogues gallery is both endearing and kid-friendly. The inclusion of a custom character adds a creative layer, appealing to both LEGO and DC fans.

The first LEGO game with an open world, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes lets you explore a massive LEGO Gotham City. A significant improvement over the original, this game features a vast roster of DC characters, tons of collectibles, and all the charm of a classic LEGO game. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (and its sequel, Years 5-7) meticulously recreates the magical world, allowing exploration of secret passageways, common rooms, and even Quidditch. The detailed environments and engaging gameplay make this a must-have for Harry Potter fans.
