SPOILER WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Yasuke’s personal story, as well as the involvement of the Templar in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Recommended Videos After Yasuke hears rumors of “worse men” from his past being active in Japan, the Yasuke’s Past quests will require players to complete the Templar Hunt Objective Board. Here’s how and where to find every Templar target in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, starting with Kimura Kei.
Your first clue about Kimura Kei's whereabouts comes from a ronin contact in Kii, located in central Nakahechi Route at the inn in Takahara Village. If you need help pinpointing his location, consider using Scouts. Look for a building marked with green flags next to a cherry blossom tree. Inside, you'll find a ronin dressed in Oda Clan attire. Engage in conversation with him, and he will direct you to find a recruiter named Kumabe Ujiie.
Kumabe Ujiie can be found in northern Kii, specifically at a cemetery in Koyasan, northeast of the Kongobuji Temple. He will be accompanied by a group of ronin, but do not engage them. Instead, approach Kumabe Ujiie and choose the “I seek guidance” dialogue option. Follow him, and he will eventually lead you to Kimura Kei's location.
Kimura Kei's Training Grounds are situated in the southwest portion of Kii, just north of the shore, between Sazae Oni Shores and Nakahechi Route. Upon arrival, follow the other students to reach Kimura Kei. He will recognize Yasuke and order his students to attack.
You'll be surrounded by attacking ronin, with more joining the fray as you advance towards Kimura Kei. Equip your best armor and weapons for this challenge. Exploding red barrels scattered along the path can be a strategic asset; shoot them with your bow or teppo to clear groups of enemies.
The confrontation with Kimura Kei initiates a boss fight, which cannot be resolved through stealth assassination. Equip armor with an engraving that allows you to parry unblockable attacks, as Kimura Kei will frequently use them. The fight unfolds in multiple phases.
In the first phase, Kimura Kei wields a standard Katana. Parry his attacks to expose vulnerabilities, then utilize posture attacks and abilities to break his armor. As his armor weakens, he switches to a Long Katana alongside his standard one, increasing his use of unblockable attacks. Focus on dodging and seizing opportunities to strike.
When Kimura Kei's health drops to about half, the fight moves outdoors. Here, his attacks become even more lethal. Dodge frequently and maintain distance when needed. Ranged attacks with a bow or teppo can be particularly effective.
Successfully defeating Kimura Kei grants 3,000 XP, some Mon, and the Templar-themed Destroyer Samurai Armor and Helmet. The armor features an engraving that reduces the impact of enemy attacks, while the helmet boosts Yasuke's damage by 10% for every 10% of health he loses.
After defeating the Shinbakufu, the Silver Queen becomes the next Templar target on the board, aiding the Portuguese in their plundering of Tamba. Similar to Kimura Kei, you'll need to gather information from various contacts before confronting her, starting with a spy.
The spy you need to consult for information on the Silver Queen is located in Southeast Tamba, in the Silver Lands. Look for him sitting on a rug under a small structure next to a wooden cart and crates. He will provide you with the Silver Queen’s location after your conversation.
You'll find the Silver Queen in the town of Tada, just northeast of Tada Kakurega. She will be conversing with Portuguese soldiers. Approach and speak to her, then follow her to her house for tea. Be cautious, as you'll wake up in Tada Silver Mine.
Upon waking from the drugged tea in a locked room within Tada Silver Mine, sprint into the door to break it open. After dealing with the guards, you can choose to fight or sneak your way out. Sneaking is the most efficient option. Turn left and head southwest to exit Tada Silver Mine, eliminating any enemies in your path.
To progress, the Silver Queen requires Yasuke's help in rescuing her brother, Akechi Mitsuyoshi, in exchange for information on Yasuke’s true target. After escaping Tada Silver Mine, head north toward Kameyama Castle. Stock up on ammo or rations at the Kakurega just north of Senneji Temple in Kameyama.
Activate Pathfinder and make your way through Kameyama Castle, eliminating guards along the suggested path. Inside the living quarters, you'll find a bleeding servant who will give you a key to the castle’s Tenshu.
With the key to the castle’s Tenshu, enter the main castle building beneath the Viewpoint and interact with the marked door to reach Akechi Mitsuyoshi. Follow him as he escapes, using your bow or teppo to take out distant threats. After freeing him, return to the castle to retrieve his Katana from Baltazar after defeating him and his soldiers. Use abilities and posture attacks to break Baltazar’s guard and deal significant damage.
Once Baltazar is defeated and Akechi Mitsuyoshi's Katana is retrieved, head north to Atago Shrine. There, talk to Akechi Mitsuyoshi and follow him to the Shrine to receive the location of your next target.
Yasuke’s final target, Nuno Caro, is preparing to leave Japan and is located in Western Tamba at Takeda Castle. This castle is perched high on a mountain at the end of a winding road; activate Pathfinder for the most direct route.
Takeda Castle is heavily guarded with alarm bells that can alert enemies to your presence. Since stealth isn’t viable for Yasuke, disable these bells with your bow or teppo. As you ascend, you'll reach a set of double doors to initiate the encounter with Nuno Caro.
Eliminate Nuno Caro's men as you ascend the castle. Nuno Caro awaits at the summit, initiating a boss fight. His combat style mirrors that of his soldiers, using a sword and pistol. Be prepared to block or parry his sword combo and dodge his pistol shots when they glow red. Use abilities to inflict significant damage and exploit vulnerabilities until he is defeated. With Nuno Caro's demise, the Templar Hunt Objective Board will be complete.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available from March 20th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
