DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series debuting May 2025, penned by Marvel veteran Dan Slott. Slott, renowned for his work on titles like The Amazing Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, returns to DC after a two-decade Marvel exclusivity. This marks a significant shift for the writer, whose previous DC contributions include Arkham Asylum: Living Hell.

Slott expressed his lifelong ambition to craft Superman stories, emphasizing not only the character's powers but also his inherent goodness. He promises a monthly escape filled with surprising twists involving Superman, Lois Lane, familiar villains, and entirely new adversaries. The series aims to appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers alike.

The series introduces a perilous new reality for Superman. A Kryptonite asteroid shower leaves the planet saturated with Green K, empowering Intergang and other foes with Kryptonite-enhanced weapons. This forces Superman to develop innovative technology and combat strategies. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, now a global media giant following its merger with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.

DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares Superman Unlimited's impact on the Superman mythos to that of Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness's Superman/Batman in the early 2000s. He highlights the series' blend of classic high-flying adventures with a groundbreaking narrative shift stemming from the widespread Kryptonite. Kaminski contrasts this with the recently launched Justice League Unlimited, emphasizing the thematic difference between unlimited heroes and the unlimited super-villains empowered by the Green K in Superman Unlimited.
