A new game, Wukong Sun: Black Legend, has emerged, drawing significant criticism for its striking resemblance to the acclaimed Black Myth: Wukong. While inspired by similar source material (Chinese mythology and the Monkey King), Wukong Sun appears to borrow heavily from Black Myth's visual style, character design (a staff-wielding protagonist), and narrative elements, raising concerns about potential copyright infringement.

Currently available for pre-order on the US eShop, the game's future is uncertain. Game Science, the developer of Black Myth: Wukong, could pursue legal action for copyright violation, leading to the game's removal from the platform.

Wukong Sun: Black Legend's description promises an "epic journey to the West," featuring the Monkey King battling monsters in a world inspired by Chinese mythology. This mirrors the core premise of Black Myth: Wukong, which has achieved phenomenal success, topping Steam charts despite being developed by a relatively small Chinese studio.

Black Myth: Wukong's popularity stems from its exceptional detail, engaging gameplay, and skillfully designed combat system—challenging yet accessible. The game's stunning visuals, particularly its fluid animations and captivating world design, have been widely praised. Many gamers believe it deserved a "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at The Game Awards. The stark contrast between the two games' execution highlights the difference between inspiration and outright imitation.
