Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the upcoming kart racer from Sega and Sonic Team, promises the largest roster in series history, featuring iconic characters from the Sonic and Sega universes. A recent PlayStation.blog post revealed exciting new gameplay mechanics and features.

A Massive Roster of Beloved Characters

The game boasts a confirmed 23 characters at launch, with more to come. The revealed lineup includes fan favorites like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, alongside characters from Sonic Riders (Jet, Wave, Storm), the Deadly Six (Zavok, Zazz), Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, E-123 Omega), the Chaotix (Vector, Charmy, Espio), and others such as Blaze, Silver, Cream, and Big. Dr. Eggman and his creations, Egg Pawn and Metal Sonic, also make an appearance.

Dynamic Racing with CrossWorlds

Prepare for a revolutionary racing experience! Travel Rings transport racers between diverse CrossWorlds in real-time, transforming the race with new environments, obstacles, and even giant monsters. These 15 unique CrossWorlds, combined with 24 main tracks, offer a theme park-style adventure with surprises around every corner. Expect dynamic tracks, changing throughout each lap, inspired by Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

Customization, Gadgets, and Extreme Gear Return!

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds offers unparalleled vehicle customization. Players can tweak their rides with various front and rear parts, wheels, and deep color options for the body, tires, cockpit, and glow effects. Further enhancing gameplay are 23 different gadgets to optimize racing strategies. The return of Extreme Gear from Sonic Riders adds a boost-based hoverboard racing element. Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka describes the game as "a great culmination of all the Sonic Racing series games to date."

Closed Network Test – Join the Race!

A closed network test (exclusively for PlayStation 5) is scheduled for February 21st-24th, 2025. Registration is open from February 12th to 19th, 2025. Participants completing a post-test survey will receive an exclusive in-game sticker and title.
