"Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer Unveils Superman Ties and New Characters"

Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, which significantly intensifies its ties to the Superman narrative by introducing Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene. The trailer starts with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl conducting a rather dismissive interview with John Cena’s character, Peacemaker, for a potential superhero team. The interview turns sour, leaving Peacemaker visibly dejected as he storms out of the building.

These characters provide us with our first glimpse of some key figures who are slated to appear in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film. The trailer's caption on social media encapsulates the theme of the season: "Achieving peace is a team effort." Peacemaker Season 2 is set to stream on Max starting August 21, 2025.

Following closely on the heels of the Superman movie, which hits theaters on July 11, 2025, Peacemaker Season 2 marks the third installment in the newly minted DCU, succeeding the Creature Commandos TV series that launched the universe late last year. This revamped cinematic universe, spearheaded by James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, departs from the critically maligned DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the old universe will carry over into the new.

Peacemaker serves as a prime example of this continuity, bridging the gap between the old and new universes. While Season 1 was part of the DCEU, Season 2 firmly positions itself within the DCU. Gunn has stated that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," although it's still uncertain which specific elements will transition from the DCEU to the DCU. He has confirmed that the entire Team Peacemaker, including John Cena as the titular character, will return with the same cast. This includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Furthermore, Gunn has revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events even influencing the plot of Peacemaker.
