Compared to other upgrade materials, Paradisan Ladder, Hylea’s Talon, and similar high-tier resources are obtained through specific means. This guide provides several strategies for quickly obtaining a significant supply.
Five primary methods exist for obtaining Paradisan Ladder: purchasing from Merilyn, foraging during exploration, earning it as a side quest reward, breaking down existing items, and downgrading Hylea’s Talon.
Merilyn, located in South Paradise (see map above), offers the fastest guaranteed method. She initially sells five Paradisan Ladders at 150 coins each. Additionally, she stocks two items – the Many-Hued Doublet and the Common Grimoire of Elements – each yielding two Paradisan Ladders when broken down. Note that her inventory does not replenish.
Paradisan Ladder plants appear in the wild and occasionally in cities like Paradise. The plant icon on your mini-map (red circle in image above) indicates their presence. While other plants may resemble it, actively searching your immediate vicinity during gameplay steadily increases your supply.
Avowed's difficulty curve incentivizes side quests, many of which reward Paradisan Ladder. For instance, the early quest "Escape Plan" provides crafting materials, including Paradisan Ladder. Completing side quests offers additional herbs while granting XP and other benefits.
Items in Avowed can be broken down into base materials (Softwood Branches, Pelts, Iron Chunks, etc.), including Paradisan Ladder if the item was upgraded with it. Breaking down upgraded weapons or armor recovers some of the Paradisan Ladder used in their creation. Check merchant inventories for unique items that list Paradisan Ladder in their breakdown components.
Once you reach Emerald Stair and acquire Hylea’s Talon, you can downgrade each into three Paradisan Ladders at your party camp workbench. Navigate to the "Crafting" tab, then select "Downgrade" instead of "Upgrade Materials." This is particularly useful for quickly upgrading a different weapon type.
This guide covers all known methods for obtaining Paradisan Ladder in Avowed. Remember to explore, complete quests, and utilize the workbench effectively to maintain a healthy supply.
