The buzz surrounding the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable within the gaming community. Analysts have shared with IGN their expectation that Nintendo's next-generation console will hit the market at $400. This sentiment is echoed in a recent Bloomberg report, which highlights predictions from Japan-focused analysts that align with this price range.

Launching at $400 would mark a significant jump from the original Nintendo Switch's price point. Yet, another analyst suggested to Bloomberg that Nintendo might opt for an even higher price tag, possibly up to $499. Tokyo analyst Serkan Toto confidently told Bloomberg, "They will sell boatloads of Switch 2 in the first months in particular, almost regardless of the price." This optimism is fueled by the anticipated high demand for the console's launch lineup, which is expected to include a new Mario Kart game—teased by Nintendo itself during the Switch 2's reveal—a new 3D Mario adventure, as well as the already announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4, all set to release within the console's first year. Toto also anticipates strong third-party support, including a title from Activision's Call of Duty series.

Rumors are swirling about a plethora of third-party titles slated for the Switch 2. In an interview with IGN, Civilization 7 developer Firaxis expressed intrigue at the Switch 2's rumored Joy-Con mouse mode. French game and accessories maker Nacon, known for titles like Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, has confirmed readiness to launch games on the Switch 2. There's also buzz around the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong possibly making its way to the console. Last month, EA hinted that Madden, FC, and The Sims could be well-suited for the Switch 2. While Activision has yet to announce its plans, and Nintendo remains tight-lipped on the report, the excitement is undeniable.

The anticipated release date for the Switch 2 is gaining consensus around June 2025, as suggested by Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein to Bloomberg. Zhu predicts an initial stock of 6-8 million units, suggesting that if Nintendo can meet the demand, the Switch 2 could outsell its predecessor and even the PlayStation 4 and 5, setting new records.

Concerns have been raised about how U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff war might affect the Nintendo Switch 2's price. New tariffs implemented by the Trump administration on goods from China, Canada, and Mexico have led analysts to warn of potential increases in the price and possible availability issues for video games and consoles. However, Bloomberg points out that the Switch 2 will be assembled in both Vietnam—a major U.S. trading partner—and China, a strategy that one analyst believes reduces Nintendo's risk.
