Neymar Joins Furia Esports, Set to Lead Kings League Team
On February 19th, global football icon Neymar Jr. joined forces with Furia, Brazil's leading esports organization, as president of their media football team. This exciting partnership positions Furia for the upcoming season of Kings League, a unique tournament blending traditional sports and esports.
Neymar's Role in the Kings League
Neymar expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting his long-standing support for Furia: "Anyone who follows me knows how much I've backed Furia since day one. I'll be working closely with the team whenever possible." His primary responsibility will be assembling Furia's Kings League roster. The 7v7 tournament features 10 teams, each with 13 players (10 drafted, 3 additional). Neymar will also have the opportunity to participate in matches via the "president penalty" rule.
What is the Kings League?
Launched in 2022 by Gerard Piqué and streamer Ibai Llanos, the Kings League has expanded globally. The Brazilian edition, running from March to April in São Paulo, includes prominent teams like Fluxo and Loud. The unique 2x20-minute matches incorporate features such as "double goal" bonuses and temporary player removals. The draft will be broadcast live on February 24th.
